Walbury Hill-Faccombe-Linkenholt

A circular route which starts at 10.30am high up on the chalk ridge from the small car park furthest east of Combe Gibbet - not the car park directly east and in view of the Gibbet but the car park east of Walbury Hill. If possible, please car share.

The walk starts heading east along the ridge on the Wayfarer's Way of the Berkshire/Hampshire downs, we walk next on the Brenda Parker Way to reach the hamlet of Faccombe. There will then be some lanes (care required) and farmland to the hamlets of Netherton and Linkenholt. A lunch stop will be taken in Linkenholt. Next we drop down into the valley of Combe wood and then up the steep Sheepless Hill to reach the Wayfarer's Way, we pass Combe Gibbet and the highest altitude in Berkshire, the highest chalk hill in England at Walbury Hill back to our start.

The walk has approximately 350m of ascent and will be walked at a moderate pace but gently up the hills!

After our walk we have a social drink option at the relatively nearby Crown & Garter pub.
