Riseley and the Devil's Highway walk, followed by tea and cake at Riseley Village Tea Room
The Walk - starting at 9.00am from Riseley Memorial Hall
A short flat pleasant walk, with a couple of stiles and just 110ft of ascent. From Riseley, we head east along a short stretch of the Devil’s Highway, a Roman road connecting Londinium (London) to Calleva Atrebatum (Silchester). The route then loops round through Bramshill Plantation before walking across fields and along quiet country lanes past Riseley Mill and Wellesley Water Meadow.
Tea and cake at Riseley Village Tea Room, 10.45am
The walk should finish by 10.45am, when there will be the opportunity to visit Riseley Village Tea Room www.riseleyvillagetearoom.co.uk which is located in Riseley Memorial Hall. Their menu consists of a wonderful selection of delicious homemade cakes and scones and locally made sourdough teacakes, together with a varied selection of loose leaf teas, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks. The tea room is very popular and often gets fully booked, so a provisional booking for 8 people has been made, but it may be possible to increase this.
If you would like to join us at 10.45am after the walk, please can you email the walk leader by Sunday 21st June to reserve your place, so that she can confirm numbers with the tea room; places will be allocated in order of receipt.
