Indiana Harris and The Lost World of the Neolithics

This is a great walk for all those budding archaeologists out there as we delve into a fascinating prehistoric world of the Neolithic Period - (2850BC and 2200BC). Today's hike also serves well for those who enjoy a good day out enjoying rural landscapes with big skies.

Meet at 10am for a prompt 10.15am start.

We will take in the  historic sites of The Sanctuary, West Kennett Long Barrow, Silbury Hill and the Stones at Avebury that were widely considered stand as one of this country's great prehistoric marvels. If that is not enough we will traverse a little bit of the Pewsey Downs Nature Reserve and pause to take in the far reaching views, weather permitting as well as seeing one of Wiltshire's white horses carved into the hillside.

We will pause at all the sites along the way so please be prepared for a longer day out than usual including an extended stop of no more than an hour at Avebury to see the stones and take in some refreshments at the café or pub.
